Dear Listener,
Our deepest musical memories begin with the sounds of home. As children, our musical world is shaped by our father's guitar, by our mother's voice, by our grandpa's records, and by our grandma's piano.
The melodies that surround us, become us. This truth continues later into life, as music becomes a memory maker that cements sound into life moments. We’ve all heard a song and thought, “this reminds me of…”
This album is a collection of live recordings that capture this experience in real time.
For the past four years, nearly every night, I have played my house to sleep. After toothbrushing and storytime, I drop the felts and play. The following 14 tracks are a mix of lullabies, explorations and improvisations.
You will hear the floorboards creak, the children playing, and the baby crying. The audio has been left intentionally raw, because that’s the way it happened, and that's the part I want to remember most.
The album is best experienced in a safe, quiet room with ample time to recline, reflect, and most importantly, time to rest.
Thanks for listening,
James
